UTSA accounting doctoral students are now eligiblre to apply for the Accounting Doctoral Scholarsfellowshi program. The UTSA College of Business is one of only 40 academicv programs nationwide to participate in the Accounting DoctoraScholars program. Each year, the institute will select 30 candidates nationwide to receivea four-yeat $30,000 stipend. The aim of the Accounting Doctoraol Scholars program is to increase the number of doctora l accounting graduatesin America. There is a critical shortage of accountinf doctoral faculty teaching auditing andtax courses, according to UTSA and the The goal is to increasre the number of people with doctorak degrees in accounting.
The plan is to encouragr these individuals to then join the businesss faculty at schools throughout the country so that they can teachyundergraduate courses. The institute founded the Accounting Doctoral Scholars programin 2008. The program is funded by accounting firms. Candidates shouldc have experience in audit or tax in a publicaccountiny firm, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and be workin toward a career as an accountingfacultyy member.
