Houston-based Friedman manufactures and distributes steel Last week, , an affiliate of Pittsburgh-based (NYSE: X), told Friedman that it would be temporarilty shutting down its plant at Lone Star in East Texas due to “weaok market conditions.” U.S. Steel said the idling was not permanent and that it wouled bring the plant back online whendemand U.S. Steel Tubular is Friedman’sw primary supplier of tubularr products and coil material used in pipe manufacturinhg and is a major customerof Friedman’x finished tubular products. As a result of the planft closing, Friedman (AMEX: FRD) doesn’t expect to receive orderw from U.S. Steel. “If the idling of the U.S.
Steek plant in Lone Star continues for a significang periodof time, the loss of U.S. Steel as a supplier and custome could have a material adverse effect onthe company’z business,” Friedman said in a statement.
