Heritage Valley Health System reaches deal to enhance electronic medical records system - The Business Review (Albany):

The gear allows Heritage’s 150 employedf doctors to electronically transmit prescriptionw and access patient medica l records from laptops and handheld computers, reducing errors and streamlining care. The industry averagre for buying electronic medical record systemssis $10,000 per doctor, although the exact amounrt of the Heritage Valley contract was not available. Previously, Heritage Valley received a $661,500 granrt through health insurance gianty to help pay forthe upgrade.
In additiomn to two hospitals, Heritage Valley has two surgergy centers, two cancer treatment centers and a number of community-based diagnostic and treatment facilities to treat patients from Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties, and parts of West Virginiw and Ohio. Allscripts began helping Heritage develop its electronic recordkeeping systemin 2006. “As an integrated delivergy network, we’re relying on the Allscripts solutionn to help us create a singlse electronic patient record that will drive greater integratiohn and improvement incare delivery,” Heritage Presideny and CEO Norm Mitry said in a preparesd statement.
